On December 18, Keywords Studios, the global provider of creative and technology solutions for the gaming and entertainment industries, announced the acquisition of The Multiplayer Group, the Nottingham-based studio that belonged to Improbable since 2019. The company was acquired for $97.1 million.

Established in 2018, The Multiplayer Group has gained recognition for its multiplayer games. The company contributed to the success of renowned titles like Fall Guys, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Mortal Kombat 1, and Starfield. Following the acquisition, the company's leadership team, consisting of CEO Andy Norman, CTO Rocco Loscalzo, COO Vaughan O'Brien, and CBO and VP of future development Roger Cheung, will remain unchanged.

"We are thrilled to welcome the MPG team to Keywords. MPG is a business that we have long admired for its high-quality work, blue-chip client base, deep experience in developing AAA multiplayer games and its use of technology and data analytics," stated Bertrand Bodson, CEO of Keywords Studios. "This is another important step in building out our platform and expanding our offering to encompass specialised multiplayer game development at scale, which is increasingly in demand for live services."

Andy Norman, the CEO of The Multiplayer Group, also expressed enthusiasm for the new acquisition, saying that the company "found success in the multiplayer space through passion, expertise, and customer-driven collaboration" and is looking forward to closely working with Keywords, creating new projects and moving forward.

Speaking of acquisitions, recently, Adobe was trying to acquire Figma, but the company had to terminate the $20 billion deal because the companies didn't manage to receive antitrust approvals in Europe and the UK.
