Jack Black Joins Jason Momoa in Live-Action Minecraft Movie

He will reportedly take on the role of Steve.

In April 2023, we reported that there would be a live-action Minecraft movie with Jason Momoa, who's best known for the roles of the Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo in the Game of Thrones series and Aquaman in the movie of the same name. There haven't been many details since, except for the release date, which is slated for April 4, 2025.

According to the latest information provided by Deadline, it seems that Jack Black, who featured in movies like Star of Rock, King Kong, and others, will join the Minecraft movie's cast as Steve. If you started wondering who else is a part of the cast, here are some names for you: Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

As for now, the movie's plot remains uncertain, and reports indicate that it does not yet have a screenwriter assigned. However, filming is scheduled to commence in the near future. Well, one thing known is that the Minecraft movie is directed by Jared Hess, renowned for his work on Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre.

Speaking of other live-action adaptations, in November 2023, Nintendo and Sony Pictures announced the upcoming Zelda movie, which is intended to be in the whimsical style of famous Japanese Animator Hayao Miyazaki.
