Baldur's Gate 3 to Launch With NVIDIA's DLSS 2 & DLAA

NVIDIA announced that the upcoming epic RPG will be equipped with its DLSS 2 and DLAA technologies upon release.

Baldur's Gate 3 will be officially released in less than 24 hours, and NVIDIA's recent blog post reveals that the long-awaited RPG from Larian Studios will feature DLSS 2 and DLAA technologies upon its launch.

For those unaware, Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 2 is NVIDIA's advanced neural network that enhances frame rates while producing stunning and clear in-game visuals. Unveiled in 2020, it empowers gamers to maximize ray tracing settings and achieve higher output resolutions, thanks to the performance boost it provides.

DLAA, or Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing, is another exciting AI-powered tool that eliminates jagged edges in video games without sacrificing the native resolution. It significantly improves image quality while placing a lighter burden on performance compared to traditional methods. This makes it especially ideal for gamers with GPUs capable of running games at higher resolutions and frame rates.

NVIDIA reports that DLSS 2 in performance mode can deliver a remarkable 93% increase in performance, enabling smooth 4K gaming at over 60 FPS on an RTX 4060 Ti GPU. With DLSS 2 enabled, most GeForce RTX 40 Series users, as well as those with comparable cards, can experience Baldur's Gate 3 in all its glory at 4K resolution with maximum settings.

Furthermore, NVIDIA has confirmed that through GeForce Now, gamers can enjoy playing Baldur's Gate 3 at an astonishing 4K resolution and 120 FPS using the RTX 4080 performance tier on compatible streaming devices.

Notably, Baldur's Gate 3 wouldn't be the first Summer blockbuster to implement upscaling technologies. Earlier, we also reported that Gunfire Games' Remnant II, an action-adventure soulslike and a sequel to the 2019 Remnant: From the Ashes, also features support for upscalers, such us DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. Unlike BG3, however, Remnant II was specifically designed "with upscaling in mind", meaning that you are actually required to use the tech in order for the game to run smoothly.

As mentioned before, Baldur's Gate 3 will be officially launched in less than 24 hours, on August 3, 2023, at 3 PM GMT. For players in Los Angeles, the wait will be over at 8 AM local time, while fans in Gent, Belgium (Larian's hometown), can expect the game to arrive at 5 PM. Last week, Larian shared a detailed map showing when to expect the game to arrive depending on your region, you can check it out by clicking this link.
