3D Goth Girl Portrait Created With Maya & Substance 3D Painter

Take a look at Blake, a highly-detailed 3D portrait created by Peter Stumpf.

Peter Stumpf, a 3D Generalist and VFX enthusiast, has recently dabbled in character art unveiling Blake, a highly-detailed 3D portrait of a goth girl sporting a stylish leather jacket, a Guns N' Roses t-shirt, and an assortment of impressive hand-crafted accessories.

Created as a personal project over the past few months, the portrait was set up using an assortment of applications, including ZBrush, the R3DS Wrap plug-in, Maya, Mari, Substance 3D Painter, Marvelous Designer, Nuke, and DaVinci Resolve. Attached below are some of the renders and WIP shots shared by the artist:

If you find Peter's portrait giving you a strong sense of deja vu, fret not, for you are not alone. Going back to 2022, 3D Character Artist Rajitha Naranpanawa also unveiled a digital portrait of a goth-style female that bears a striking resemblance to Blake, featuring a nearly identical hairstyle and hair color, nose ring, choker, cleft chin, Guns N' Roses merch, and countless other similarities.

Interestingly, Peter's post on ArtStation doesn't acknowledge or mention Rajitha's portrait, making it unlikely that the 2022 artwork was the primary source of inspiration for Blake. Instead, it seems that both artists used the same reference image for their projects, creating a rare scenario where two creators independently and unknowingly interpreted the same character in 3D.
